MYSTERIES OF THE NEW EARTH-- A MYSTERY GREATER THAN DEATH, THE GRAVE, AND A LIFE OF PLEASURE! “... victory through our Lord Jesus Christ...” INTRODUCTION TO THE SERIES I. First the necessity. 1. Victory over the grave and death and fear of such. “Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (I Corinthians 15:51-57) 2. It makes sense out of what is increasingly happening to this old earth and universe: the new earth under the surface is pushing to come out like a new chick out of the egg, or in the words of the Bible, as "a woman in the pangs of birth". Romans 8:18-25 “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it." II. Words "new earth" in the Bible. Wikipedia introduces the New Earth: "The New Earth is an expression used in the Book of Isaiah (Is 65:17 & 66:22), 2 Peter (2 Peter 3:13), and Book of Revelation (Rev 21:1) in the Bible to describe the final state of redeemed humanity. It is one of the central doctrines of Christian eschatology and is referred to in the Nicene Creed as the world to come." "I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more (Revelation 21:1) I am about to create new heavens and a new earth; the former things shall not be remembered or come to mind (Isaiah 65:17). For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, says the LORD; so shall your descendants and your name remain (Isaiah 66:22). But, in accordance with his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness is at home (2 Peter 3:13). {Courtesy of Wikipedia at: http://en.wikipedia. org/wiki/The_New_Earth } III. Some of the mysteries of the New Earth that are revealed in the Bible by the grace, mercy, and wisdom of God. 1. This old earth destroyed by fire at the Day of the LORD and Lord. "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and everything that is done on it will be disclosed. Since all these things are to be dissolved in this way, what sort of persons ought you to be in leading lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set ablaze and dissolved, and the elements will melt with fire?" (2 Peter 3:10-12) 2. Some details the revealed mysteries of the Bible make clear of life on the new earth. NOTE: The day of the LORD and Lord is so close now with the Second Coming of Christ, "gathering of the saints" first from the grave and then those that are alive, destruction of the old earth and with that creation by God of the New Earth, that it behooves us now to start making mental preparations for Life on the New Earth.
