PPD: Perfect Peace Devotionals Based on Isaiah 26 "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." Isaiah 26:3 1. "Perfect peace" is only once in the Bible. 2. Perfect peace is built on perfect trust in LORD JEHOVAH. "Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength..." (Isaiah 26:4) a. While the new earth is not mentioned in Isaiah 26, the perfect peace is for the new earth. b. Our minds almost scoff when we read of "perfect peace"; for now we have so little peace in the world with many wars and rumors of war. It is perfectly not peace. c. The way of peace for the world was established as Jesus established His kingdom on earth, and the way of perfect peace will be completely established as "thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." There are a few passages in the Bible that mention the new heavens and the new earth like the Apostle John saw in a vision, "I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old was passed away". d. You comprehend the new earth is being spoken of as you read Psalm 26:9. "With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness." e. The Apostle Peter told of the new earth immediately after the destruction of the old with the Day of the LORD and Lord; and notice Peter also mentions a Peace, "that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless." "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless." (II Peter 3:10-14) 3. This expands out concept of Peace, as in Isaiah 26:3, it is primarily a peace on the new earth; however a peace before the new earth that comes with assurance in the Word of LORD Jehovah that IT WILL HAPPEN! Here it is a peace on earth, "that you may be found of him in peace..."; of course also may Christ as His Second Coming find in our life "peace, without spot, and blameless." 4. This brings up the peace of living the "good life" as Peter writes of in I Peter 3:10-12. "For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil." 5. Perfect rightness of attitude and love and living is recommended by Jesus in Matthew 5:48 "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." 6. In touching the hem of Jesus garment is perfect healing for individuals and nations. Matthew 14:36 "And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole." |
